Student Information
Financial
Aid
- Financial assistance is available for most qualified students. This
includes a variety of Graduate Student Research Assistantships, Graduate
Division Fellowships, Chancellor's Distinguished Fellowships, Dean's
Fellowship, Teaching Assistantships, Nonresident Tuition Fellowships,
and Fee Fellowships. Priority consideration is given to students
who apply by January 5th of the year that they plan to enter the program
(i.e. January 5, 2007 for Fall 2007). The absolute deadline
for admission is February 1st for international applicants and May
1st for domestic applicants.
- All students interested in receiving financial assistance such as
fellowships, Graduate Research Assistantships, and Teaching Assistantships
must submit a FAFSA application once they are admitted to the program.
Application
- Students can apply to the graduate program by submitting a formal application including general aptitude GRE scores, a $60 application fee ($75 for international students), official transcripts and three letters of recommendation.

Cost
of Study
- Fees for domestic in-state graduate students for the 2006-2007 academic
year are $8,766, out of state domestic and international graduate
students pay $9,033. In addition to the fees out of state domestic
and international graduate students pay a non-resident tuition fee
of $14,694. Tuition waivers are frequently provided for qualified
out-of-state students. Out of state domestic students are expected
to obtain California residency after the first year. Most students
also receive a partial fee remission and health insurance.
Living
and Housing Cost
The cost of living is comparable
or lower than that of most other major universities in California.
The university has residence halls and apartments for single students
as well as family student housing for married and single parent students.
On-campus housing is subsidized and generally available. Off-campus
housing remains reasonable with apartments, houses and condominiums
within easy walking or biking distance. For more information

Location
- Riverside is a cosmopolitan city of 288,000 located in rolling hills
and among citrus groves in the western end of Riverside County, about
an hour's drive from Los Angeles, the beach cities, alpine mountains,
and the Mojave desert.

Group
- For the 2005-2006 academic year there were 36 graduate students
in the program; we anticipate that 8-10 students will be admitted
to the Ph.D. or Masters program in the next academic year. Upon completion
of their graduate education, students have entered careers in academia,
industry, government, and consulting.
